JOB Title:  CDL (Yard Jockey) + Forklift Driver

Job Summary:

We are seeking a reliable and skilled Yard Truck & Forklift Operator to join our team. This position requires an experienced individual who can operate both yard trucks (with a valid CDL) and forklifts in a busy warehouse environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for moving trailers around the yard and safely loading/unloading trucks using forklifts. If a yard truck is not yet procured, the primary focus will be on forklift operations until equipment is available.

Key Responsibilities:

• Yard Truck Operation: Safely and efficiently operate a yard truck to move trailers within the yard or facility, ensuring proper positioning for loading/unloading and storage.

• Forklift Operation: Operate forklifts (sit-down, stand-up, or reach trucks as needed) to load/unload freight from trucks, stack, and organize inventory within the facility.

• Loading/Unloading: Use forklifts to load and unload materials from trucks, ensuring items are securely handled and stored.

• Trailer Management: Move and position trailers in the yard, preparing them for incoming or outgoing shipments. Coordinate with warehouse staff to ensure smooth transitions.

• Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols while operating yard trucks and forklifts. Conduct routine safety checks and report any equipment malfunctions.

• Inventory Organization: Assist in organizing and maintaining the yard and warehouse areas, ensuring materials are stored properly and that space is utilized efficiently.

• Equipment Maintenance: Perform daily equipment checks (yard trucks and forklifts), ensuring that machinery is in safe working condition. Report any issues to the supervisor for timely repairs.

Qualifications:

• Licensing/Certifications:

  • Valid Class A CDL with a clean driving record.

  • Forklift Certification (must be current).

• Skills:

  • Strong ability to operate forklifts (including various types) and yard trucks in a safe, efficient manner.

  • Ability to navigate tight spaces in a busy yard or warehouse setting.

  • Strong attention to detail, ensuring accurate handling of materials.

  • Good communication skills to coordinate with warehouse teams and drivers.

Working Conditions:

• This role requires working in both indoor and outdoor environments.

• Ability to work in varying weather conditions and seasonal changes.
