Position: ITAD Operators

Location: Plano, TX 75074

Pay: $17-$19 (depending on experience)

Schedule: 7am-3:30pm

Role Overview

The ITAD Operator is primarily responsible for handling and processing data-bearing storage devices — including HDDs, SSDs, and related media. Core duties include receiving, inventorying, securely erasing, dismantling, and preparing these assets for resale, recycling, or destruction. All work is performed using company's test platforms with Blancco erasure software, in alignment with R2v3 certification requirements and NIST 800-88 standards to ensure full data security and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, inspect, and log incoming HDDs, SSDs, and storage media devices.

  • Perform data erasure using Blancco software on company's certified test platforms.

  • Ensure all sanitization processes meet R2v3 and NIST 800-88 compliance standards.

  • Disassemble or prepare storage media as needed for resale, reuse, or recycling.

  • Package and palletize processed media for storage or outbound shipment.

  • Maintain accurate, audit-ready records of all devices and erasure activities.

  • Follow strict chain-of-custody procedures and security protocols.

  • Operate warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks or forklifts (if certified).

  • Support a safe, clean, and organized work environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Prior experience with IT asset handling or storage device processing preferred.

  • Basic knowledge of HDDs, SSDs, and related IT hardware.

  • Familiarity with data destruction methods (software and hardware) a plus.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow documented procedures.

  • Comfortable using computers, scanners, and tracking systems.

  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.

  • Dependable, punctual, and team-oriented.

Additional Requirements

  • Must pass background check and drug screening (as required).

  • Must follow all safety, security, and data handling protocols.

  • Forklift certification a plus (not required).
